To qualify, a film must contain all of the ingredients disclosed at the outset of the competition. These ingedients will be announce at the start of the competition on March 18th at the Fairfix Cafe in Fairfax.
Content
The Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge reserves the right to make a determination as to whether the content of any entry is inappropriate for screening at the Fairfax Documentary Film Festival. Material that promotes hatred, discrimination against protected classes or that is obscene will not be screened. Participants are responsible for ensuring that entries are appropriate for audiences of all ages. Where this is not the case, the producer must notify Fairfax Doc Film Challenge.
Producer's Responsibilities
The producer of each film is responsible for reviewing these rules and release and sharing the same with each team member.
Intellectual Property
Entrants are responsible for obtaining all of the necessary intellectual property rights for their submissions. This includes but is not limited to the scripting, audio and video that may be used in an entry. Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge will refuse to screen material that violates intellectual property rights.
Attribution
Any future distribution or screening of a film made during Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge participation should include a credit with the following information:
"Made for Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge 2010 in 48 hours. www.fairfaxdocfest.org
Screening
Some entries are publicly screened at the Fairfax Movie Theater during the festival. However, there is no guarantee that your film will be so screened in case of technical problems, late submissions, or overwhelming number of teams.
Release
I hereby agree and consent that Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge, its agents, licensees, affiliates, and assigns may record, in video, audio or any other format, my appearance, voice, likeness and biography in the course of the Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge participatory filmmaking event. I grant Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge a royalty-free, perpetual license to any such recordings.
I further grant Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge a royalty-free, perpetual license to any recordings made during the course of my participation in Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge, the production, filming, direction, scripting or creation of which I undertake or facilitate in any manner. Such licenses include, but are not limited to, the rights to: (1) publicly exhibit and license others to publicly exhibit any such recordings, by any means, including screening, live simulcast, streaming audio and video over the internet, and television; (2) modify and adapt such recordings; and (3) promote and distribute such recordings and dvds.
I represent that for any and all intellectual property contained or reproduced in my team's entry, I or another team member has obtained the necessary license(s) from the rights-owners consistent with the above rights that I am granting to Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge.
I further agree to hold Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge, the Fairfax Documentary Festival and any person associated with those events, harmless against any and all loss, claim, expense, judgment, or other damage or liability of any kind, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or resulting from my participation or my entry in Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge. Such indemnification shall cover claims brought by any party, including myself and third-parties and shall include but not be limited to claims brought for any statements made by me and any allegations of intellectual property rights violation relating to my Fairfax Short Doc Film Challenge participation.
